EFIS is a subsidiary of EFIS Holding GmbH & Co KG based in Monheim, Germany, and is also a member of the Fressnapf Group.

In 1990, the founder Torsten Toeller at age 24 opened the first store for pet food and pet supplies under the name of Freßnapf in the village of Erkelenz in Germany. Inspired by US super-pet-stores, he developed a concept for European specialty stores in pet supplies. Today FRESSNAPF is market leader for pet supplies in Europe.
